“We played well and deservedly won. In addition to the goal, the boys created a couple of good chances. There was a lot of great moves and actions, especially in the second half, when we had more space. We mustn’t forget we played against a team who knows what they’re doing. I’m pleased with our performance. There were a few debutants in our team and I’m encouraged by what I’ve seen,” said the coach after a winning start to the league.
This was not just the first match at Ljudski vrt for Jasmin Mešanović and Jean-Claude Billong, but also for Martin Kramarič, who is assuming a new role after returning from a loan spell at Krško.
“We talked before the match and I said I consider Kramarič to be a new arrival. This is a new chapter for him, one in which he knows he’s a very important member of the team. He was not just given a few minutes for encouragement. We expect a lot from him. He, Mešanović and Billong all made a good impact.”
The doubly important match brought a lot of positive things to light. It also gave the team an extra push for Wednesday’s spectacle at Ljudski vrt.
“I have a feeling that this team is very homogeneous and that the players are living for every moment we spend together. We are on a good run and we can hardly wait for new challenges. But we don’t want to get ahead of ourselves. As always, we will take it one game at a time. Step by step. We are understandably happy after a victory, we congratulated ourselves for our performance. But after Sunday afternoon, it’s time to thoroughly prepare for Zrinjski. They are a good side and despite our advantage from Mostar, we will have to work hard to get through to the next round,” said Darko Milanič with the final stage of the Zrinjski project in mind.
